Ishaq Dar's first visit to Bangladesh in April
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar of Pakistan will visit Bangladesh from April 22 to April 24. This is his first high-level trip to the country since the change in Bangladesh’s government last year. During his visit, Dar will meet with Bangladeshi Interim Chief Executive Dr. Muhammad Younis. He is also set to engage in formal talks with Towheed Hossain, Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser, to discuss various aspects of the relationship between the two countries. Dar is likely to meet with other Bangladeshi cabinet members as well. The focus of the discussions will be on strengthening trade and economic ties. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed during the visit. This follows a recent increase in trade between the two nations. In February, Pakistan sent its first shipment of 50,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh, which is an important food item there. Additionally, the countries are planning to resume direct flights soon, further enhancing their connection.
