The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered a police officer to report on the disappearance of two brothers of journalist Ahmed Noorani. Noorani, who lives in the United States, recently published an investigative story about a high-ranking military official. Noorani's mother, Amina Bashir, has petitioned the court to help find her two sons. During the hearing, Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas raised concerns about the police investigation. Bashir expressed frustration that no formal report had been filed after three days since her sons went missing. The court has set a deadline for the police officer to submit a written report by March 24. Justice Minhas warned that failure to provide a satisfactory update could lead to further action against higher police officials. Bashir claims her sons disappeared from their home in Islamabad’s Sector I-14 early on Wednesday. She has accused intelligence agencies of being behind the abduction, allegedly connected to Noorani’s reporting. The brothers, engineers Muhammad Saifur Rehman Haider and Muhammad Ali, were reportedly taken from their home by a group of unidentified men. The family contends that these men also seized their mobile phones and deleted a video of the incident. The petition names several government officials and agencies, seeking their response in the case. Moreover, Noorani's website, FactFocus, is currently inaccessible in Pakistan.
