Ismaili volunteers serve 1,200 meals in Hyderabad, Secunderabad

Ismaili CIVIC has distributed 1,200 food packets in Hyderabad and Secunderabad to support those in need during Ramadan. This event, held over the weekend, is part of the organization's ongoing commitment to community welfare. It is the fourth initiative of this kind in the city. Volunteers, including young children, helped to pack and deliver the meals at three different locations: Home for the Disabled, Devnar School for the Blind, and Niloufer Hospital. The food was prepared by Ismaili women who have benefited from culinary training provided by the Aga Khan Social Welfare Board. Now, these women run their own businesses and used their skills to give back by cooking for the event. Amin Ladha, president of the Ismaili Council for Southern India, praised the effort, underscoring the profound impact of communal support. He noted that many of those who previously received help have now become contributors. Shameer Malani, president of the Ismaili Council for Hyderabad, mentioned that Ismaili CIVIC's work does not end with Ramadan. The organization is engaged in various social welfare projects year-round, including health check-ups and environmental initiatives. Since its expansion in 2021, Ismaili CIVIC has made significant strides in health, education, and environmental sustainability. In 2024, they collected over 3,000 pints of blood, cleaned up 250 kilograms of waste, and planted over 400 trees. They also organized a free medical camp benefiting 550 construction workers, showcasing their dedication to helping the community.
