ISPRL plans new oil reserve in Madhya Pradesh to support inland refineries
The Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves (ISPRL) plans to establish a new oil reserve in Madhya Pradesh, focusing on the Bina site. This reserve aims to support inland refineries during supply emergencies. Engineers India (EIL) will conduct a pre-feasibility study, expected to finish in 3-4 months. Currently, India's strategic reserves are located along the coast, with a total capacity of 5.3 million tonnes. The new reserve at Bina would help supply refineries in central and northern India, which are far from existing reserves. ISPRL is also exploring a reserve in Bikaner, which would be India's first salt cavern reserve, and is considering a natural gas reserve in the same area. Additionally, ISPRL plans to expand existing reserves in Mangaluru.
