Israel deploys tanks in Golan Heights and conducts air strikes in Syria
Israel has deployed tanks into the Golan Heights demilitarized zone for the first time since 1974. This move aims to prevent hostile forces from establishing a presence near Israel's border. The deployment was coordinated with the United Nations. Israeli air strikes targeted military bases, weapons storage sites, and a research center in Syria, claiming to prevent weapons from reaching rebels. The Israeli Defense Forces warned residents in five southern Syrian towns to stay indoors due to military activity. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated that the separation of forces agreement with Syria has collapsed, as Syrian soldiers abandoned their positions. He emphasized that the Israeli army's actions are a temporary defensive measure.
