Israel ends agreement with UN agency providing aid in Gaza
Israel announced on Monday that it has ended its agreement with the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, known as UNRWA. This move follows recent legislation aimed at severing ties with the agency, which Israel claims has been infiltrated by Hamas.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that UNRWA is part of the problem in Gaza. The agency, which provides essential services to nearly 6 million Palestinian refugees, denies these allegations and insists on its neutrality.
Aid groups have expressed concern that this decision will worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israel claims other U.N. agencies can provide necessary support, but those organizations argue that UNRWA is crucial for the population.
