Israel insists on enforcing any ceasefire deal with Hizbollah unilaterally
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will insist on enforcing any ceasefire deal with Hizbollah unilaterally. This follows discussions with U.S. envoys about a draft proposal that allows Israeli military actions in self-defense against Hizbollah.
The leaked draft includes provisions for Israeli air operations over Lebanon and targeting Hizbollah, which Lebanon is likely to reject. The proposal aims for a 60-day ceasefire and the withdrawal of both Hizbollah and Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.
Despite ongoing U.S. diplomatic efforts, Hizbollah remains a powerful force in Lebanon. The group’s leader indicated they would only accept a ceasefire on their terms, continuing hostilities until a satisfactory proposal is presented.
