Israel intensifies ground operations in southern Gaza
The Israeli military announced on March 20 that it has expanded its ground operations in the southern Gaza Strip. The operations are taking place in the Shabura area of Rafah, which is near the Egyptian border. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that troops are dismantling what they called "terrorist infrastructure" in the region. The IDF is also conducting activities in northern and central Gaza. Earlier, Israel closed the main road that runs from north to south in Gaza. This closure is part of the military's expanded operations that started again on March 19. An Israeli military spokesperson mentioned that movement between northern and southern Gaza is restricted for safety reasons. Reports indicate that many Palestinians are fleeing south. They were seen on Salaheddin Road, which remains open in some areas. This road is near the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Additionally, local officials reported that Israeli tanks have moved into certain areas after private security contractors left. The situation continues to develop, and the humanitarian impact is significant as many seek safety from the conflict.
