Israel targets key military sites in Syria with extensive air strikes
Israel has conducted extensive air strikes in Syria, reportedly destroying key military sites following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's government. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted around 250 strikes in the last 48 hours. Targets included airports, military warehouses, and air defense facilities, particularly near Latakia and Damascus. The strikes aimed to dismantle the military capabilities of the former regime. Israel has also deployed troops into a buffer zone east of the Golan Heights, which officials describe as a temporary security measure.
