Israel targets military sites in southern Syria
Israel's military is currently targeting military sites in southern Syria, including command centers and weapon depots. The Israeli Defense Forces stated that these military assets pose a threat to Israel's security. Syrian state media reported that two civilians were killed and 19 injured in the airstrikes near Daraa city. The strikes reportedly hit a site previously used by the forces of ousted president Bashar al-Assad. Since Assad's removal in December, Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in Syria and has deployed troops to a UN-monitored buffer zone in the Golan Heights. Israel has a history of targeting government and Iranian-linked forces during the ongoing conflict.
