Israel terminates agreement with UN agency providing aid in Gaza
Israel announced on Monday that it has ended its agreement with the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, known as UNRWA. This move follows recent legislation aimed at severing ties with the agency, which Israel claims has been infiltrated by Hamas.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that UNRWA is "part of the problem" in Gaza. The cancellation of the agreement, which dates back to 1967, raises concerns about worsening humanitarian conditions, as UNRWA provides essential services to nearly 6 million Palestinian refugees.
Despite international calls for a cease-fire, Israel continues to conduct military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with over 43,000 reported deaths in Gaza and nearly 2,900 in Lebanon since the violence escalated last year.
