Police in New Delhi have arrested two young men for allegedly robbing a trader of about Rs 80 lakh at gunpoint. The robbery took place in Chandni Chowk, and the suspects were caught within 24 hours thanks to Israeli face recognition software. The suspects are Mohammad Ali, 21, and Samir, 19. They were apprehended in Daryaganj, and officers recovered nearly all of the stolen money. The robbery happened on Monday evening when the trader, Ajamal, was returning home from collecting cash. A man stopped him at gunpoint and fired a shot as Ajamal resisted. Police quickly launched an investigation, filing a report at the Lahori Gate police station. They analyzed footage from around 500 CCTV cameras in the area to track the escape route of the assailant. Ali's face was caught on one of the cameras, and police used the software to match it with a previous record. Once they identified Ali, a team set a trap in Daryaganj and arrested him. During questioning, he revealed Samir’s name, leading to his arrest as well. Police found Rs 79.5 lakh at Samir's home, along with a semi-automatic pistol believed to have been used in the robbery. Authorities learned that Ali had prior criminal experience and was familiar with financial movements in the area. Both suspects planned the robbery carefully, targeting people who collected large amounts of cash. Ali and Samir are now in judicial custody and face charges under the BNS and Arms Act.
