Israel's foreign minister calls military control of Syrian border buffer zone temporary
Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that the military's recent takeover of a buffer zone along the Syrian border is a temporary measure. This follows the fall of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and aims to enhance security. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to control the zone after Syrian forces withdrew. Israeli troops have moved into areas beyond the demarcated buffer, which was established to separate Israeli and Syrian forces. Saar clarified that Israel does not occupy the entire buffer zone, which is over 80 kilometers long. The move is intended to prevent hostile forces, including Hezbollah, from approaching the Israeli border.
