ISRO launches European Space Agency's Proba-3 mission from Sriharikota today
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is launching the European Space Agency's Proba-3 mission today, December 4, at 4:08 pm IST from Sriharikota. This mission uses the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) to carry two spacecraft into high Earth orbit. Proba-3 will study the Sun's outer atmosphere, or corona, using advanced formation flying technology. The Coronagraph and Occulter will operate closely together, allowing for continuous solar observations, a capability not previously achieved on this scale. This mission follows ESA's earlier Proba satellites and aims to enhance understanding of solar phenomena that impact space weather. The data collected will support future space exploration and improve knowledge of solar effects on Earth systems.
