ISRO successfully docks satellites in historic SpaDeX mission
ISRO has successfully docked its satellites as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX), making India the fourth country to achieve this feat. The docking involved precise maneuvers to stabilize the spacecraft. The SpaDeX mission was launched on December 30, 2024, using the PSLV C60 rocket. It carried two small satellites, SDX01 and SDX02, into a 475-km orbit. This mission aims to demonstrate cost-effective in-space docking technology with small spacecraft. Prior to the successful docking, ISRO conducted a trial on January 12, bringing the satellites close together before moving them apart.
