ISRO successfully docks SpaDeX satellites, advancing India's space technology
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully docked its SpaDeX satellites, marking a significant achievement for India in advanced space technology. This places India among a select group of nations, including the U.S., Russia, and China. The docking process followed a trial run on January 12, where the two satellites, Chaser and Target, were brought within three meters of each other in low Earth orbit. They were launched on December 30, 2024, and designed to drift apart before the final docking attempt. ISRO's docking technology combines global standards with local innovations, featuring an efficient design that uses fewer motors than international counterparts. This mission supports India's future goals, including plans for a space station by 2035 and human missions to the moon by 2040.
