ISRO to launch Proba-3 mission for solar research on December 4
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch the European Space Agency's Proba-3 mission on December 4, 2024, at 4:08 PM IST from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This mission focuses on studying the Sun's corona. Proba-3 consists of two satellites that will separate after launch and fly in formation about 150 meters apart. This setup will create an artificial solar eclipse, allowing detailed observations of the Sun's corona. The PSLV-C59 rocket will carry the satellites into orbit, with separation occurring about 18 minutes post-launch. The mission aims to observe the Sun's corona for up to six hours per orbit, enhancing solar research capabilities.
