Jagdambika Pal accuses opposition of confusing Waqf Bill
BJP leader Jagdambika Pal, who is the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, has accused some Muslim organizations and the Opposition of spreading confusion. He claims that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is creating rumors about the bill before it has even been presented in Parliament. Pal stated that the JPC has conducted extensive consultations over the past six months. They spoke with various stakeholders, including state officials and minority commissions, and visited many states across India. He emphasized that the committee considered the views of all parties, including the AIMPLB. The chairman mentioned that the JPC made 15 amendments to the bill, raising the total from 44. He criticized the AIMPLB's protests and their plans for further demonstrations, suggesting that they intentionally aim to create confusion and fear within the community. Pal argued that the Opposition is practicing "appeasement politics" and called their actions unconstitutional. He urged critics to wait until the amended bill is presented in the House before jumping to conclusions.
