Jaggu Bhagwanpuria moved to disrupt his criminal activities

Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, a well-known drug trafficker, has been moved from Bathinda Central Jail to Central Jail in Silchar, Assam. The shift aims to disrupt his ongoing criminal activities, which he has allegedly managed from behind bars using smuggled mobile phones. Bhagwanpuria, also known as Jagdeep Singh, is linked to the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022. Authorities say he has connections with international drug networks in Canada, the United States, and Pakistan. His criminal record includes over 128 cases, with many involving drugs and violence. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claims he has been involved in smuggling heroin, opium, and illegal arms. The NCB has taken similar actions with other criminals who continued their operations from prison. Recent transfers included Akshay Chhabra and Jaspal Goldy, who were moved from a Punjab jail to Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam. Another notable criminal, Balwinder Singh, was detained in Dibrugarh last year for his ties with smuggling networks. These moves are part of a broader effort by the Indian government to tackle drug trafficking and organized crime. The NCB is committed to enforcing stricter measures to stop these activities, aiming for a drug-free India by 2047, as part of Prime Minister Modi's vision.
