Jagir Kaur questions Dhami's SGPC presidency return
Jagir Kaur, a former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has raised concerns about Harjinder Singh Dhami returning as SGPC president. She spoke to reporters in Jalandhar and questioned Dhami's motivations for resuming his role. Kaur claimed that Dhami decided to come back only after a personal meeting with Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is his political leader. She suggested that Badal holds more influence over Dhami than other leaders, including the jathedars, who had also encouraged him to return to his position. Kaur also demanded clarity from Dhami on how he plans to address the obstacles affecting the implementation of Akal Takht's orders from December 2. These orders aimed to address issues concerning the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and led to the removal of certain jathedars. Dhami had previously resigned on February 17 after controversy arose over the dismissal of a jathedar. Following discussions with Badal and SAD's working president, he later agreed to resume his duties as SGPC president.
