Jaipur reports 10 chikungunya, 1 dengue case this week
Jaipur has reported 10 chikungunya cases and one dengue case from March 4-10, marking the start of mosquito-borne illnesses as summer begins. The health department is taking preventive measures due to the rise in temperatures, which favor mosquito breeding. Chikungunya, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, causes fever and severe joint pain. This increase in chikungunya cases is notable, as dengue is usually more common in the city. From January 1 to March 10, 2025, there have been 159 dengue cases and 110 chikungunya cases in the state. The health department is preparing to combat mosquito-borne diseases by reducing breeding sites and using insecticides during outbreaks. These efforts aim to control the spread of these illnesses as the monsoon approaches.
