Jaismine aims to boost aggression in boxing matches
Jaismine Lamboria, a boxer who competed in the Paris Olympics, is working to improve her aggression in the ring. At the ongoing women’s national boxing championships in Greater Noida, coaches are helping her capitalize on her height and reach. The 23-year-old boxer has faced challenges against aggressive opponents. In the 2023 Asian Games, she lost in the quarter-finals to North Korea’s Won Ungyong when the referee stopped the match due to heavy punches. At the Olympics, she lost in the first round to silver medalist Nesthy Petecio from the Philippines. Jaismine is now focusing on being more aggressive in her fights. She successfully showcased this strategy when she beat Ruchika from Chandigarh with a second-round referee stoppage, securing her place in the quarter-finals. In her first match at the nationals, Jaismine defeated Ice Prajapati 5-0. Her coach, Chhote Lal Yadav, noted the importance of being more offensive in her fights. He believes Jaismine is showing good improvement and adapting well to the new aggressive style. With her tall frame of 5’9”, she can use her height to her advantage. As Jaismine continues to train, she remains determined to enhance her skills. With future international events coming up, including world championships, she will face tougher challenges ahead. In other results from the competition, Sanamacha Chanu advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Manipur’s Bindiya Devi Maorem. Of the 31 bouts held on the third day, 14 were stopped early, and some centers were not able to compete due to issues within the Boxing Federation of India.
