Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025 launched in Haryana
The Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025 campaign was launched in Panchkula, Haryana, on World Water Day. The event was led by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. The campaign aims to tackle water conservation issues through various initiatives. These include the Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana for Haryana and other programs like the Water Resource Atlas 2025. An Online Canal Water Management System was also introduced to support these efforts. Several water conservation projects were launched in Mahendragarh district. The minister inaugurated works in multiple villages and laid the foundation for 400 artificial groundwater recharge structures to help restore groundwater levels. In Ferozepur Jhirka, water supply projects were started, benefiting 52 villages. Canal-based drinking water projects were introduced in Pataudi, improving water access for many rural residents. Innovative irrigation solutions were also unveiled. Solar Power Integrated Micro Irrigation Projects were launched in various villages to enhance irrigation efficiency by combining solar energy with modern techniques. The event also focused on solid waste management. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), new facilities like waste management sheds and soak pits were established in Panchkula to improve hygiene and reduce water contamination. Notable individuals and organizations were recognized for their contributions to water conservation during the event. Progressive farmers and sarpanches were honored for their innovative practices promoting water sustainability. CR Patil also announced plans for a meeting with the chief ministers of neighboring states. This meeting aims to ensure Haryana receives its fair share of water. He emphasized the collaborative effort between state and central governments to address water scarcity in Haryana.
