Jamie Dimon emphasizes AI's potential and fraud risks
Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase, believes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be a major force in changing the world. He compared its impact to that of the printing press and the internet. Dimon spoke at a technology summit in Las Vegas, sharing his thoughts with Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. He said AI could help combat fraud but also warned that criminals would use it for illegal purposes. Dimon emphasized that businesses, governments, and individuals need to be prepared for these challenges. He called for stronger protections on data sharing since much of it is handled by third parties rather than banks. Regarding the US economy, Dimon noted that it is currently in a "soft-landing" phase but mentioned growing concerns about inflation. He described the economic situation as turbulent and expressed a cautious outlook about where it might lead. Dimon also highlighted global issues, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and tensions in the Middle East, that could affect the economy. Lastly, he addressed the topic of tariffs, mentioning the anxiety they are causing worldwide. Dimon indicated that President Donald Trump's tax plans have added to the uncertainty in the market.
