Jammu and Kashmir to review reservation policies in six months
The Jammu and Kashmir government will submit a report on reservation policies within six months, according to social welfare minister Sakina Itoo. This follows criticism after she initially stated no timeline was set for the cabinet sub-committee's report. Itoo clarified on social media that the chief minister had established the six-month deadline. She accused opposition leader Sajad Lone of politicizing the issue, noting his absence during the assembly discussion. The cabinet sub-committee was formed in December to review a controversial reservation policy that increased quotas for reserved categories. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah acknowledged a previous oversight in not mentioning the timeline during the assembly session.
