Jammu and Kashmir's unemployment rate falls to 6.1%
The unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased to 6.1% in 2023-24, down from 6.7% in 2019-20. The government attributes this decline to various initiatives that created 9.58 lakh livelihood opportunities. The labor force participation rate rose to 64.3%, and the workers population ratio increased to 60.4% in 2023-24. The government reported that 11,526 selections were made by public service commissions in the past two years. Additionally, 45,688 jobs were provided in the private sector over the last two years. The government has also launched 'Mission Yuva' to support five lakh potential entrepreneurs and organized 246 job fairs, resulting in nearly 5,000 placements.
