Jamshedpur FC and Diamond Harbour FC win opening matches

Jamshedpur FC and Diamond Harbour FC started their journey in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2024-25 National Group Stage with impressive wins. Jamshedpur FC faced East Bengal FC and secured a 3-0 victory at Reliance Corporate Park Football Ground in Mumbai. The match was closely contested in the first half, but Jamshedpur took control after halftime. In the 63rd minute, Ningthoujam Remson Singh scored the first goal after a mistake by East Bengal's defense. Jamshedpur got a chance to extend their lead in the 80th minute when East Bengal’s goalkeeper fouled Mayanglambam Ronaldo Singh in the penalty area. Moirangthem Marjit Singh successfully converted the penalty kick. Seven minutes later, Bivan Jyoti Laskar contributed to the scoring by assisting Lawmsangzuala for the final goal, ensuring a 3-0 win. In the other match, Diamond Harbour FC defeated FC Goa, also with a score of 3-0. Diamond Harbour took an early lead with a goal from Akash Hembram after he connected with Benjamin Lalnunpuia’s cross. Hembram then scored again in the 55th minute, successfully navigating past the FC Goa goalkeeper. Diamond Harbour sealed their victory in the 65th minute when Benjamin scored from the penalty spot after a handball by an FC Goa player. Head Coach Abhishek Das expressed ambition, stating the team aims to win in the group stage. He acknowledged that many players are new to this level, and their performance could help them advance into the senior team.
