Jana Sena MP leaves Chennai before delimitation meeting
A member of Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party (JSP) arrived in Chennai on Friday night but left before a key meeting on delimitation. The meeting was organized by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and aimed to bring together opposition leaders. Tangella Uday Srinivas, the JSP MP from Kakinada, was warmly welcomed by DMK representatives at the airport. However, he left the city early Saturday morning, even though a seat was reserved for him at the meeting. Officials from the JSP said he traveled to notify the DMK that they would not attend the meeting. Sources suggest he was asked to leave by BJP leaders who were concerned about his presence. After arriving in Chennai late Friday, Srinivas was met by two DMK MPs and taken to a hotel where opposition leaders gathered. Late that night, he received a call from Kalyan asking him to return. Kalyan promised to speak to Stalin about the situation. The DMK did not publicly comment on Srinivas’s quick departure, but one senior leader acknowledged the significance of his visit. The JSP confirmed it had received an invitation but reiterated its decision not to attend. They clarified that Srinivas delivered a letter from Kalyan stating their position. Tensions between Kalyan and the DMK have risen recently over the National Education Policy, particularly concerning the promotion of Hindi. Kalyan criticized DMK leaders for not opposing the dubbing of Tamil films in Hindi for profit, while DMK leaders accused him of misunderstanding their stance. Kalyan responded, emphasizing he had not opposed the Hindi language itself.
