Jane Yap prioritizes projects over politics in campaign
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Mayor Jane Yap of Tagbilaran City announced her campaign plans as the local election period begins on March 28. She stated that her team will prioritize discussing projects and programs rather than giving long speeches or making political attacks. During her speech at the launch of the Saulog Tagbilaran Festival 2025, Yap emphasized her commitment to focusing on governance. She reassured residents that the Yap-Jala administration would concentrate on development for all Tagbilaran citizens. Yap, representing the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, is running for reelection alongside Vice Mayor Adam Jala from the Nationalist Party. They will compete against Councilor Malvin Misael “Atoy” Torralba from the People's Reform Party. In her address, Yap highlighted the city's advancements in digital initiatives. She thanked organizations for naming Tagbilaran as one of the 25 Digital Cities for 2025. Yap noted the growth of the city's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, which began in 2018 and now employs around 6,000 workers. She also mentioned efforts to improve online business transactions at City Hall and plans for a one-stop shop to support local businesses. Yap aims to make Tagbilaran a modern and inclusive hub for progress and investment.
