Japan plans missile deployment to deter China in Pacific
Japan is sending a strong message to China regarding potential threats in the Taiwan Strait. Tokyo is considering deploying long-range missiles to the southern island of Kyushu. This move is meant to deter Chinese ships from accessing the Pacific Ocean. Reports indicate that Japan is looking at possible missile sites in Kyushu. Two locations being considered are Yufu in Oita prefecture and the city of Kumamoto. The missiles in question are upgraded versions of the Type-12 surface-to-ship guided missile, which can reach targets 1,000 kilometers away. This range would include both North Korea and the Chinese coastline. Experts suggest that this deployment is part of Japan's effort to demonstrate its commitment to security. Japan aims to show the United States that it takes its defense responsibilities seriously and is willing to support the military alliance. The country is also reacting to increased Chinese military activities, including drills near Taiwan and other operations in the region.
