Jason Brown, a former college football coach known for his role in Netflix's docuseries "Last Chance U," has filed a $30 million lawsuit against the streaming platform. The lawsuit was submitted in Los Angeles County this week. Brown alleges that Netflix and the producers of "Last Chance U" misrepresented him through selective editing. He claims this portrayal has harmed his career and reputation. Brown agreed to be part of the series in June 2017, believing it would boost his positive image. He recalls being told by a network executive that colleges would reach out to him after the show's release. Instead, Brown feels he was depicted as a villain across the two seasons he participated in. He argues that the editing made him appear as a volatile coach, which hurt his opportunities to coach at various colleges and professional teams. One particular incident he highlighted involved a text message referencing Hitler, which he claims was exaggerated in the show. In total, Brown estimates his losses at $10 million for lost income, $10 million for damage to his reputation, and $5 million for emotional distress. He is also seeking an additional $5 million in punitive damages. Brown is not alone in this lawsuit. Several other former stars from "Last Chance U," including Ronald Ollie and John Franklin III, have also filed lawsuits against Netflix under similar claims. Netflix has not yet commented on the ongoing legal issues.
