Javier Báez starts at center field for Tigers

Javier Báez will start in center field for the Detroit Tigers in their final home exhibition game in Lakeland, Florida. This is a surprise move, as Báez is usually a shortstop. The Tigers' manager, A.J. Hinch, has tried different players in center field this spring. The decision comes as center fielder Parker Meadows is expected to be out for at least four more weeks. Meadows has a nerve issue in his right arm, which he injured during the first exhibition game in February. For now, Wenceel Perez is expected to be the everyday center fielder. Other players, like Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry, may also help in center field, while Báez's role could change. Matt Vierling is currently injured but could play center if he returns before Meadows.
