Jaya Bachchan highlights Bollywood stars' fears of legal troubles

Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has spoken out about the fears that Bollywood celebrities face. She believes that stars in the industry are often worried about getting into trouble with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This constant fear makes them careful about what they say in public. At a recent event, Jaya highlighted the impact of this anxiety on creativity. She pointed out that even when celebrities pay their taxes and follow the law, they still live with the stress of potential legal issues. Jaya expressed that this situation stifles their ability to focus on their work. She emphasized, "If the ED shows up outside your house...this headache looms over you. How will you focus on creativity?" While she admits she doesn't have these fears herself, she acknowledges that many in the industry do. Several Bollywood stars have faced summons from the ED in recent years. Actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, and Jacqueline Fernandez are among those called for questioning. Jaya's own husband, Amitabh Bachchan, and daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai, were also questioned by the ED in connection to the Panama Papers scandal in 2017.
