Jetty construction begins in Dombivli for water transport

A bhumi pujan ceremony took place on Wednesday for a new jetty in Dombivli. This event marks the start of a water transport project aimed at linking Dombivli to nearby cities like Thane, Bhiwandi, and Vasai. The Maritime Board is overseeing the construction of the jetty in the Mothagaon area. Work on jetty projects in Vasai and Thane started earlier. Dipesh Mhatre, a local leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed his support for the project. He noted that they have been working on developing water transport since 2018. Mhatre highlighted the recent financial support from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which will help bring this project to life. The state has approved an additional Rs 80 crore for water transport efforts, with Rs 22 crore specifically allocated for the Dombivli jetty. This initiative is expected to provide a new travel option for residents, making their commutes faster and more environmentally friendly.
