Jharkhand Assembly disrupted by BJP protests on law enforcement
Ranchi's assembly session faced disruptions on Tuesday due to protests from BJP leaders. They demanded a discussion on law and order issues following a violent incident in Ghodthamba village. The opposition leader, Babulal Marandi, highlighted a clash between two groups last Friday that involved petrol bombs and violence against Holi celebrations. He accused the police of being biased during the incident, where shops and vehicles were damaged. In response, the parliamentary affairs minister, Radha Krishana Kishore, stated that both parties care about law and order. He suggested that the issue should be addressed during discussions on the home department's budget. He criticized the opposition for using the situation for political advantage. Despite the speaker's attempts to continue with the agenda, Marandi insisted on discussing the violent events. As protests escalated, Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav shifted the topic to illegal mining. When the session resumed, other issues were raised, including a recent murder and the need for infrastructure improvement in Ranchi. Chief Minister Hemant Soren assured that the Sarhul festival would go on as planned, despite concerns about development projects.
