Jimmy Carter turns 100 marking a century of change in the US and the world
Jimmy Carter, the 39th U.S. president, turns 100 today, making him the longest-lived president in history. He remains under home hospice care in Plains, Georgia, where he was born in 1924. Since Carter's birth, the U.S. population has nearly tripled, and the global population has quadrupled. Plains, however, has seen little growth, with its population increasing from about 500 in the 1920s to around 700 today. Carter has witnessed significant political and social changes, including the expansion of voting rights and shifts in immigration policy. He is expected to cast a mail ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris, who could become the first woman president.
