Joan Koska, 87, passed away in Chicago, Illinois
Joan Frances Koska, aged 87, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility. She was born on January 16, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. Joan is remembered fondly by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, who she was married to for 64 years. Joan also lost her parents, Frank and Rose Kadlec, and her brothers, Ronald and Donald. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas and Timothy, a sister named Darlene Sweeney, and four loving grandchildren, Stephanie, Katherine, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Joan spent much of her life in Glen Ellyn, having previously lived in Berwyn, Illinois. She met her husband while working at the Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago. After their marriage on August 9, 1958, she devoted herself to being a homemaker and raising her family. A member of the Southminster Presbyterian Church, Joan also volunteered at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility. She enjoyed spending time with family, going on vacations, and participating in various activities. Joan was known for her love of shopping, playing bridge, and supporting Chicago’s sports teams. She was a talented cook and especially loved making her famous chocolate chip cookies. The family will hold a memorial service at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, April 5, 2025. There will be a memorial visitation from 10:00 AM until the service begins at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Joan's name to the Southminster Presbyterian Church.
