Joey Bosa released by Chargers; mom starts petition
Joey Bosa has been released by the Los Angeles Chargers, where he was the longest-tenured player. His mother is advocating for him to join his brother, Nick Bosa, on the San Francisco 49ers through a petition shared on social media. Bosa, 29, was selected for his fifth Pro Bowl this past season and played 14 games, his highest since 2022. He had previously expressed a desire to remain with the Chargers for his entire career. The Chargers' decision to release Bosa frees up $90.6 million in cap space. Bosa had a five-year, $135 million contract, which was the largest for a defensive player at the time.
