Joey Gallo plans to become a pitcher after release
Joey Gallo was released by the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. The 31-year-old plans to switch from playing positions to pitching if he signs with another team. Gallo has played in the outfield, third base, and first base during his 10-year MLB career. Gallo expressed interest in pitching through his agent before his release. He previously pitched in high school and made 21 varsity appearances, including a no-hitter. The White Sox did not have room for him to pursue this transition within their organization. Gallo's move follows other MLB players like Brett Phillips and Tyler Naquin, who have also shifted to pitching after their playing careers. Gallo clarified on social media that he is not retiring and will focus on becoming a pitcher.
