Johanna Uyking takes lead with closing eagle shot

Johanna Uyking made a remarkable play by scoring an eagle on the 18th hole, concluding her round with a five-over-par 77. This performance gave her a two-shot lead in the girls’ 13-14 division of the USwing Mojing Junior World Qualifying at The Country Club in Davao. Despite facing challenging windy conditions, the 13-year-old golfer relied on her strong driving skills. She made a fantastic shot, holing a 3-wood from 190 yards for her eagle. This critical moment helped her surpass Precious Zaragosa, who finished with a score of 79 after experiencing difficulties in the final holes. Uyking's day included six bogeys and one double bogey on the fourth hole. She did score well with a birdie on the eighth hole. Zaragosa, the defending Junior Philippine Golf Tour Match Play champion, also managed to score an eagle on the eighth but faced struggles with four bogeys early in her round. In the boys’ division, Ralph Batican also recorded a 77, which gives him a three-stroke lead over David Teves in the ongoing three-day tournament. In the boys’ 15-18 division, Emilio Hernandez is in the lead with a score of 75, two shots ahead of Patrick Tambalque. Shinichi Suzuki and Jose Carlos Taruc both scored 78, while Cliff Nuñeza, Tristan Padilla, and Geoffrey Tan finished with 79.
