Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's iconic meeting animated
Johnny Depp is featured in an animated clip from a new docuseries about Tim Burton. The clip shows Depp's first meeting with Burton, using a whimsical Burton-style animation. The docuseries is directed by Tara Wood and consists of four parts. It explores Burton's life and career, including his recent work on the 2024 film "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." The first episode of the docuseries was shared at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2024. It includes interviews with notable cast members who have worked with Burton over the years, such as Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, and Helena Bonham Carter. In the docuseries, Depp reflects on his career and his initial fears about being typecast. He shared that he felt an immediate connection to the character he played in "Edward Scissorhands." He remembers thinking that many big stars wanted the role, including Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise. Despite his doubts, Depp agreed to meet with Burton after initially wanting to cancel. The clip features unique animation created by Jim McKenzie, showing Depp transforming into various iconic characters from Burton's films. The docuseries is still searching for a distributor and does not have a confirmed release date yet.
