Johns Hopkins University cuts 2,000 jobs due to funding loss
Johns Hopkins University announced it will cut over 2,000 jobs due to the Trump administration's termination of $800 million in grants. This is the largest layoff in the university's history, affecting 247 U.S. workers and 1,975 positions abroad. The job cuts will impact the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the medical school, and the international health non-profit Jhpiego. The university stated that the funding loss is forcing it to reduce critical work both locally and internationally. The Trump administration has canceled over 80% of USAID programs and is investigating 60 universities, including Johns Hopkins, over allegations related to pro-Palestinian protests.
