Jonathan Dowdall's former home listed for €795,000
The former home of state witness Jonathan Dowdall is now up for sale again. Located on Navan Road in Dublin, the house is listed for €795,000. It was initially on the market in June 2024 but seemed to have sold before reappearing with the same price. This four-bedroom family home is described as "wonderfully presented" and ready for immediate occupancy. It features a south-facing garden with a fishpond, ideal for entertaining. The inside includes a spacious hallway with marble tiles, a cozy living room with an open fireplace, and an extended kitchen that gets plenty of natural light. Each bedroom has built-in wardrobes, and the attic has been converted into extra living space. The house also has double-glazed windows, gas heating, and a secure cobble lock driveway with gates. These features are particularly significant considering Dowdall’s background. The property gained attention during the murder trial of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch. Notably, the garden pond was searched by police after a high-profile murder in 2016. The kitchen was also the site of a serious crime involving Dowdall, who was convicted of falsely imprisoning a man in 2015. Dowdall is nearing the end of his prison sentence related to the murder of David Byrne. Upon release, he is expected to enter the Witness Protection Programme. The sale of his home will help fund his new life abroad. Initially set to be tried for Byrne's murder alongside Hutch, Dowdall instead pleaded guilty to facilitation and agreed to testify against Hutch, who was later acquitted. The court questioned Dowdall's credibility as a witness, citing his self-interest in the case.
