Josh Gattis expected to join Syracuse football staff

Former Maryland offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is expected to join the football staff at Syracuse University. Reports from 247 Sports suggest that Gattis will take on a role in the coaching team. Gattis, who won the Broyles Award in 2021, has previously coached at major programs including Michigan and Miami. He has had a notable career, helping Michigan achieve a successful season with a 12-2 record. During that time, Cade McNamara was the starting quarterback, and the team only lost to Ohio State and Georgia. After a year at Miami, Gattis moved to Maryland, where he faced challenges with a struggling team that finished 4-8. Gattis has experience working with prominent programs like Alabama and Penn State, and he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at North Carolina. Syracuse has recently expanded its coaching staff, adding new positions for analysts and quality control, following a rule change by the NCAA. Although there are no confirmed openings on the staff, changes are being made to help improve the team’s performance. The Orange are looking to build on last season's success while replacing several key players, including quarterback Kyle McCord.
