Juan Pedro Benali extends contract with NorthEast United FC

Juan Pedro Benali has extended his contract with NorthEast United FC until the end of the 2026-27 season. The Indian Super League (ISL) team announced this news on Saturday. Benali joined the club in 2023 and quickly made an impact. He led the team to the semi-finals of the Durand Cup and helped them secure their first title there. Under his guidance, NorthEast United has also reached the playoffs for the ongoing ISL 2024-25 season, finishing fourth in the standings. Originally, Benali's contract had a clause for extension if the team qualified for the playoffs. Instead, the club and Benali have decided on a new two-year agreement. Club owner John Abraham expressed his excitement about the extension, praising Benali’s commitment to improving the team. CEO Mandar Tamhane also highlighted the importance of continuity in their project. He believes extending Benali’s stay is essential for the club's focus on youth development and long-term success in Indian football.
