Judd Trump may have peaked too early this season
Judd Trump, the current world No.1 snooker player, has been advised that he might have peaked too early in the season as he heads toward the World Championship in April. He is aiming for his second title at the Crucible but has not made it to a final this year. Trump, who won his first world title in 2019, has had a successful past season, winning six ranking titles and over £1 million in prize money by Christmas. However, this year has been less successful for him. He reached the semi-finals at both the Masters and the World Grand Prix but did not progress further. Dave Hendon, a well-known commentator, discussed Trump’s early success on a podcast, noting that many of his achievements occurred before Christmas. While Hendon believes that Trump’s strong start might help him save energy for the upcoming championship, he also cautioned that he might have already experienced his best form for the season. The Players Championship will be Trump’s last major tournament before the World Championship. He will face Lei Peifan on March 18. Trump has also shared that he prefers to spend less time in England and now splits his time between Dubai and Hong Kong with his girlfriend, figure skater Maisy Ma.
