Judge allows prosecutors to combine sex crime cases against Harvey Weinstein
A judge has allowed Manhattan prosecutors to combine two sexual crime cases against Harvey Weinstein, aiding the district attorney's office ahead of his retrial. Weinstein's lawyers opposed this consolidation, claiming it was improper. Weinstein, recently diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, appeared in court in a wheelchair. He is currently appealing a 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles while facing new charges related to a 2006 incident. In 2020, Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault but had his conviction overturned in April due to prejudicial testimony. He has denied all allegations, claiming the encounters were consensual.
