Judge denies motion to limit publicity in Colorado homicides
Johnny Morris, a 46-year-old man, is accused of killing two people in Colorado last year. On Friday, he appeared in court where a judge denied a request to limit media coverage of the case. Morris is facing serious charges, including first-degree murder. The case began when police found blood at the home of Morris and another victim, Stephen Walker, in El Paso County. When officials searched, they discovered Walker's body in a wooded area days later. Another victim, Timmy Huston, was found dead in a separate location. Morris was arrested in Mississippi after police responded to a report of a car break-in. At the court hearing, Morris's attorney asked the judge to stop law enforcement and prosecutors from speaking to the media. However, Judge David Prince denied this request, believing the current media coverage would not harm Morris's chances for a fair trial. He mentioned the possibility of revisiting this issue in the future. Morris faces a total of 11 charges, including murder and tampering with a human body. He also has a separate homicide case in Park County that may be dismissed soon. His associate, Hailey Cole, also faces charges related to Huston's death and will appear in court soon. Both Morris and Cole are currently in custody, with Morris held without bond, while Cole's bond is set at $5 million. Morris is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 30.
