Judge releases man charged with subway stabbing of teenager in New York City

A judge released Rondail Henry, 44, without bail after he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old on a Brooklyn subway. Henry, who has 19 prior arrests, was charged with second-degree assault but was placed on supervised release. Prosecutors requested bail of $20,000, but Judge Philip Tisne ordered Henry's release. This decision has drawn criticism from law enforcement, who express concern over repeat offenders. The stabbing is part of a recent rise in subway violence, with 49 felony assaults reported this year, down from 58 last year. Last week alone saw 11 felony assaults, compared to six in the same period in 2024.
