Juna Akhara makes ceremonial entry into Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj

The Juna Akhara, the largest monastic order, made its ceremonial entry into the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on December 14. This event, known as Chaawani Pravesh, marks the first entry of any akhara for the upcoming festival starting January 13, 2025. The procession began at Maujgiri Ashram and included around 50 religious leaders, with Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri leading. The 3-kilometer journey featured chariots, palanquins, and traditional music, lasting about eight hours. Thousands of locals participated, showering petals and seeking blessings from the seers. The procession was welcomed by local officials upon entering the Kumbh Mela area, showcasing a vibrant display of saffron colors and religious symbols.
